In view of the increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country, the Union Home Ministry released new guidelines that will be effective for the month of April. According to these new guidelines, every state and union territory in India can make its own, local rules, to make sure that there’s no rapid spreading of Coronavirus in the area.
According to these guidelines, all states must strictly enforce the test-track-treat protocol and ensure Covid-appropriate behaviour to control the spread of the coronavirus. The vaccination of the people of the country has been asked to be sped up by the central government, especially to those who are more susceptible to the virus.
Some states have made impressive progress in vaccinating their people, while the progress of some states is less than commendable. The centre asked these states to achieve at least 70% vaccination to the concentrated group of citizens, as soon as possible.
While there would be no restrictions outside of containment zones, the centre told the states that fines can be imposed for people who fail to comply with safety rules, such as masks, sanitizing and distancing in workplaces and in public, especially in crowded places. There is no restriction on inter-state and intra-state movement of people and goods either. This also means the government will not stop trains, flights, metros, schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants, shopping malls, multiplexes, parks, yoga centres, gyms and gatherings.
