Historic judgment: Death penalty to rapist within 48 days

A fast track court in Warangal has imposed a death penalty to the teenager, who raped months old baby, a few days ago.

The people of both the Telugu states, woke up to the shocking news on July 20th, when a 25-year old Praveen, in a drunken state kidnapped a 9-month old baby.

The baby was kidnapped, when she was sleeping beside her mother on the terrace of their house. After noticing that their daughter was missing, the parents started searching for her and were shocked to see Praveen sexually assaulting the little baby at a private place. He was caught red-handed and was handed over to the police.

Praveen was charged with rape and murder and he also confessed to his crime, which further helped the judge to decide on the punishment with not much delay.

After the numerous hearings, the fast track court has given the judgment on the case within 48 days. The women activists and other citizens, who severely criticized Praveen, showered praises on the law system, after the court ordered the punishment.

However, Praveen will still have a chance to appeal in the higher court. But as he himself confessed the crime, the probabilities are zero.
