Heart-wrenching! Housefull signboard outside a crematorium in Karnataka

What could be more heart wrenching than witnessing thousands of people dying each day in India because of Covid-19?

Earlier we used to see Housefull boards at movie theatres. But now, the situation has worsened that houseful boards are appearing even at the burial grounds.

Karnataka is one of the badly hit states in India. With a record number of cases and deaths, the hospitals, morgues and crematoriums are overwhelmed. Amid these tragic situations, most of the families can’t even find a space to cremate their loved ones, and several crematoriums are facing space shortages.

In one such case, officials of a crematorium in Karnataka’s Chamrajpet put up a house full board outside as the facility has no space to cremate the dead bodies.

There are 13 electric crematoriums in Bangalore and they are constantly busy. Due to a shortage of cemeteries, the state government has allotted 230 acres of land to the Greater Bangalore Metropolitan Municipality (GBMP). The state government has also allowed to cremate in family-owned farms and plots.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 tally of Karnataka’s crossed the 16 lakh mark on Sunday following 37,733 new infections while 217 more deaths took the toll to 16,011.
