HC gives AP government 4 weeks’ deadline

The Andhra Pradesh government has very notoriously refused to pay the pending employment bills to the employees of the government, stating various reasons, including Vigilance enquiry. As a result, 1013 petitions have been filed in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, against the AP government, and the HC has given its ruling today.

The HC gave the AP government a 4-week deadline to clear all the pending payments and even dismissed the GO passed by the government, which says that the bills need to be reduced by 20%. The HC also said that the government should clear the remaining arrears with a 12% interest, for those who have already been paid some amount.

The AP government has specifically stopped the payment for those who have worked in 2018-19, under the TDP government, as the AP government has considered them to be TDP loyalists. Fact is, these amounts are given by the Central Government, according to the necessary calculations, which the AP government is said to have transferred to other schemes, for its usage.
