The major cities in India are being suffered from this COVID-19 pandemic on a large scale when compared to other areas. Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Kolkata are on this list along with Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai.
Tamilnadu is 7th in the list of most number of positive cases due to the COVID-19 pandemic after Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh. In Tamil Nadu, the number of cases exceeded 2000 already and in Chennai alone, there are 800 cases.
Chennai is such a big city with crores of population and one single mistake can cost hundreds of casualties all of a sudden. Four days back, out of 121 COVID-19 positive cases registered in Tamilnadu, 103 cases were registered in Chennai city alone. This tells us the gravity of the present situation in Chennai city.
Already the Chennai has been blocked by all sides and none is allowed into the city for any reason and all the Chennai residents are ordered to stay in the city. This caused severe water crisis and even essential goods became very hard to purchase due to the increase in the containment clusters all over the city.
Most importantly, many of the cases that are being registered in the city have no link with the Markaz returnees, with the foreigners and the people who are COVID-19 positive patients and their contacts. Some are speculating that there has been a community transmission in this city and it is clear that Chennai is strictly placed in the clutches of the COVID-19.
