The Telangana state election commission on Friday issued a notification to hold the Mayor’s election on February 11.
The swearing-in of the newly-elected corporators will be under the guidance of the Presiding Officer on February 11 at 11 am.
Afterwards, at 12.30 pm all the corporators together will elect the mayor. In the GHMC elections, the TRS won 56 seats, the BJP 48, the MIM 44, and the Congress 2.
This time the mayor’s post was assigned to a woman from the General category. Kesavarao, the senior leader of TRS is asking the leaders to offer this position to his daughter Vijayalaksmiki.
Current Mayor Bontu Rammohan has also reportedly asked to give it to his wife, Sridevi. Currently, the ruling party is of the opinion that one of the Deputy Mayor positions should be given to a woman from Reddy social class and the other to the woman from other castes. It looks like there will be two deputy mayors this time.
