The Center on Saturday announced a new vehicle registration mark called the Bharat Series (BH) in all vehicles. This new BH series ensures seamless transfer across states as the vehicles will not require any transfer of registration and will be valid across the country.
The facility will be available on a voluntary basis to defence personnel as well as Central and State government employees. The employees of private companies having offices in four or more States can also take advantage of this facility.
“This scheme will facilitate free movement of personal vehicles across states and union territories of India upon relocation to a new state/ union territory,” the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) notification said.
Vehicles bearing the BH mark would not require a new registration mark when the owner shifts from one state to another.
Currently, a vehicle registered in one state can only be used in another state for a maximum of 12 months. If the vehicle is to be driven there for a longer period of time, the vehicle must be re-registered by that deadline.
