Finally a checkmate to Jagan!

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy has been transforming the state ever since he formed his government more than one year ago. The Chief Minister has been trying to do all those feats that no other Chief Minister has ever tried to do before – and most of them have turned out to be controversial.

Of all his attempts, one attempt cannot be denied by anyone, and that is the fact that Jagan has been trying to incorporate his party and his mark anywhere and everywhere in the state. From painting all government buildings in his party colors, to naming every scheme and every construction after the late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Jagan is leaving no stone unturned.

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh had previously told the Chief Minister and his party to remove his party colours from all the gram panchayat and government buildings. However, the YSRCP party played smart and added an extra colour, thereby dismaying the court’s order. Even when the High Court questioned them about the same, they gave an explanation that each colour in the colour scheme stands for purpose – Green symbolizes agricultural revolution, Blue symbolizes water revolution and White symbolizes poultry revolution. The government did not give an explanation to the addition of terracotta colour, which made the intentions of the government very clear.

The Supreme Court has now given a similar order to the Andhra Pradesh government, to remove all of its party colours from gram panchayat offices and government offices. The Supreme Court has also said that if the government failed to do so in four weeks, then it would be considered as contempt of court.

The CM seems to have finally come to his senses with this statement, having ordered for all his party colours to be removed, and repainted with white only. Looks like only the Supreme Court can make Jagan change his mind about anything, and put a checkmate to his plans.
