Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Uppala Srinivas Gupta has appointed BB4 contestant Alekhya Harika as the brand ambassador on the occasion of International Women’s Day Celebrations.
However, Dethadi Harika‘s appointment as Telangana State Tourism Brand Ambassador has led to controversy. The appointment outraged the concerned minister and the superiors. The top officials of the Department of Tourism removed the Harika details from the website of the Department of Tourism. Within a day of taking office, Harika was ousted from the post.
As per reports, the chairman Uppala Srinivas Gupta has taken his own decision without consulting the officials regarding the appointment. Even Minister Srinivas Gowda was unaware of the appointment. As per the talk, the CMO is serious about this issue and even asked for an explanation from Srinivas Gupta.
The removal of details of Harika’s appointment from the website has raised many suspicions. However, there is an impression that she is not a celebrity enough to be appointed as a tourism brand ambassador.
Harika has gained fame with the popular Bigg Boss Television show. She has a massive fan following on social media for her videos on YouTube with Telangana accent. Efforts are already underway to make an entry into the film industry.
