A petition was filed against the YSR Congress Party in the Delhi High Court, requesting the HC to dissolve the party as the party was using the name YSR Congress Party. There is another party in Andhra Pradesh, with the name YS Rajasekhar Reddy Congress Party. However, the abbreviation of Jagan’s YSRCP is Yuvajana Raithu Congress Party.
The Delhi HC dismissed the petition against the YSRCP and said that the party can use the name YSRCP, as the full form doesn’t mean YS Rajasekhar Reddy Congress Party. This came as a major relief to the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh. A man named Bhasha founded the YS Rajasekhar Reddy Congress Party in Kadapa district, and he filed this petition against the YSRCP with the EC, and with the Delhi HC as well.
In its verdict, the Delhi HC said that it checked with the EC, and since the EC gave the green signal for YSRCP to be sued by the ruling party, there’s no objection to it. Previously, YSRCP rebel leader Raghu Ramakrishna Raju also pointed out the same thing, asking why the YSRCP was using YSR Congress PArty on its letterhead, instead of using Yuvajana Raithu Congress Party. Post this, the YSRCP started using its full form on its letter head, clearing all misunderstandings.
