Covid-19 lockdown: CBSE plans to revise syllabus for the students

India is under the lockdown since March 24 to combat against the spread of coronavirus disease pandemic. As per the Covid-19 guidelines, schools were closed and exams postponed at least 10 days before the lockdown was announced. The lockdown has now been extended till May 3, which seem to be difficult for the schools to continue with the same syllabus.

Its known that earlier, a new academic calendar of National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was introduced by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday.

The calendar comprises guidelines to teachers on the nuts and bolts of various technological tools and social media tools available for imbibing education in fun-filled, interesting ways. It can be used by students to learn even while at home. Nevertheless, it has taken into consideration, the degree of access to such tools involving -Mobile Radio, Television, SMS and various social media. The calendar contains week-wise plan that includes fun and challenging activities and also suggests to communicate between teachers and parents via SMS, which is predominantly used to assess the learning of elementary children, said Nishank.

CBSE also began to work on rationalised syllabus for students of classes 9 to 12. The CBSE is in talks to revise the class 9 to 12 syllabus to compensate for the loss of the academic time of the students amidst lockdown.

NCERT took a key decision to present overhauled activity calender for classes 1-8. CBSE is surveying the circumstance and loss of time to legitimize prospectus for classes 9-12 and will intimate very soon,” stated CBSE representative Rama Sharma late on Friday night.
