In a shocking development, India has recorded over 3.52 lakh new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, becoming the first country to make this unwanted record.
With the addition of fresh 3,52,991 Covid-19 cases, the total caseload in India has climbed to 1,73,06,300 and in the second position globally behind the United States, which has over 3.2 crore infections.
The country saw its highest single-day spike of 2,812 fatalities taking the death toll to 195,116. India now has more than 2.8 million active cases.
India has become the only country to report 22.5 lakh new Covid-19 cases in the last one week. The worst-hit country US has recorded 449,498 while Turkey added 414,425 in the last one week. Besides the US and India, Brazil, France and Russia are the next three countries having many virus infections.
