Chor Baazar Review: Routine crime drama

Movie Name Chor Bazaar
Star Cast Akash Puri, Gehena Sippy,
Director Jeevan Reddy
Producer VS Raju
Music Suresh Bobbili
Run Time 2 hr 13 Mins
Release Date 24 Jun, 2022

Noted director Puri Jagannadh’s son Akash Puri’s film, Chor Bazaar under the direction of Jeevan Reddy has hit the screens today. Let’s check how it is.

Story:

Set in Hyderabad backdrop, Chor Bazaar revolves around a Nizam diamond that will be robbed by a group of goons. Later, the diamond will be missing in Chor Bazaar. To track it, the state minister ( Sunil) orders the police department. How is Bachchan Saab( Akash Puri), a guy from the same Chor Bazaar is interconnected with the missing mystery of diamond? To know that, you have to watch the film in the theatres.

On screen performances:

Akash Puri did his part decently. His dialogue delivery and typical mannerisms elevates a few mass moments.

Heroine Gehna Sippy is cute on screen and her acting as a dumb girl is okay. The combination scenes between the lead pair add some fresh vibe to the film.

Yesteryear heroine Archana made her re-entry with the film. Though she did her part decently, for the most of the time the audience feel like she is not the correct pick of the given non-sync and loud natured role.

Subbaraju and Sunil are okay in their respective key roles. Sampoornesh Babu did his cameo role quite decently.

Off-screen talents:

Music by Suresh Bobbili is decent as the background score elevates a few heroic scenes. While his songs are passable, Suresh did a decent job with the background score.

The cinematography by Jagadeesh is fine as the rustic texture in the film is showcased nicely. Editing by Anwar Ali is okay. Production values for this limited budget movie are okay.

Director Jeevan Reddy who earlier directed conceptual dramas like George Reddy is the director for Chor Bazaar. Though his intension of making a proper commerical film is good, looks like his on paper ideas are not translated on screen in an effective manner.

Positive Points:

  • Akash Puri
  • Music to an extent

Negative Points:

  • Routine storyline
  • Lacks gripping presentation

Verdict:

In an overview, Chor Bazaar is a crime drama that has a decent performances from the key actors. But the flat and outdated execution by Jeevan Reddy are major defects for the film.
