Chiranjeevi: Godfather was Ram Charan’s decision

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s speech at the Godfather pre-release event in Ananthapur today was absolutely jubilant. Thousands of fans turned up to see the actor on the stage, and stayed till the end of his speech, despite the heavy rain that began towards the end of the event.

After a long time, Chiranjeevi spoke at length at tonight’s event, even though it was pouring down heavily. He started off by addressing the rain in Ananthapur, and made references to his super hit film Indra, in which there’s a song that he can be seen singing for rain in Rayalaseema. He said that he was able to make it to the event today, even though he was delayed at the shooting of another film, just because of the people’s love for him. Chiranjeevi then said how it was his son Ram Charan, who was instrumental in him doing Godfather, a remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer. Chiru said that Charan encouraged him to do the film because he thought that the film and the character was perfect for Chiru at this point in his career, because of the versatility and range that can be shown in the character.

Chiranjeevi then spoke about the film’s director Mohan Raja, and said how it was Ram Charan, once again, who suggested that Mohan Raja direct the film. Chiru said that Mohan Raja worked on the script for a year and made it to perfection in reality, not compromising on any aspect, from casting to anything else at all. Chiru spoke highly of everyone who is a part of the film, from Nayantara to Satyadev, Sunil, Getup Srinu, Murali Sharma, Sunil, Shafi, Samuthirakani and Salman Khan.

He thanked Salman for agreeing to be a part of the film immediately after Charan asked him, and said that the audeince is going to have a great time watching Chiru and Salman dancing on the big screen in Thaar Maar Thakkar Maar, which has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva. He then spoke about Satyadev and how everyone is going to be enraptured by his brilliant performance as the antagonist in the film. He also thanked Puri Jagannath for agreeing to be a part of the film, even though he was hesitant at first.

Chiru said that Thaman put his everything for the film and gave an outstanding background score for the film, which elevated the film to the next level. Chiru then went on to wish all the very best for the other films which are set to be released on October 5th, Nagarjuna’s The Ghost, and Bellamkonda Ganesh’s Swathimuthyam. He thanked the audience for their constant support and said that they have been his Godfather throughout his career. He concluded his speech with a dialogue.
