Central government announced that beneficiaries from the general public entitled for receiving the covid inoculations for the next phase commencing from March 1 can choose a vaccination centre at their convenience and be registered for a dose. The third phase will cover a large population above 60 years and those above 45 with few comorbid conditions.
The health ministry outlined new guidelines and features to be included in the Co-WIN platform. On Saturday, ahead of the next leg of India’s vaccination drive, Union health ministry released a protocol for people with comorbidities to get permission from a registered medical practitioner to be eligible for immunising individuals.
Now the centre also released the maximum cap price for the vaccine. Private hospitals can charge up to Rs 250 for a jab that comprises the user fee around 100. With respect to the notice issued by the centre to states, UT’s vaccine centres will charge Rs 150 per person per jab as cost of vaccine and 100 to account for logistics, storage and vaccinators. On the other hand, the government vaccine centres will provide the vaccine at free of cost.
