Following the order of AP High Court, the statues of the legendaries like Dasari Narayana Rao, ANR and also actor Hari Krishna have been removed on Vishakhapatnam’s beach road.
A division bench of AP High Court, has come up with the judgment, as they have been set up overnight, without the permission of the Greater Vishakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
The statues were erected in Vishakhapatnam, within few days after the death of Hari Krishna. This made the opposition parties claim that the TDP is playing statue politics and is trying to gain political mileage, by using the sentiment of Hari Krishna’s death.
Adding to it, Ganta Srinivasa Rao from TDP unveiled the statues, which further worsened the situation, making the people assume that the GVMC authorities are dancing to the tunes of the ruling party.
Aggrieved over this, a few of the civil groups have filed a petition in the court, seeking removal of the statues, as it could influence the voters during the general elections. The court finally responded to it, ordering for the removal and to avoid any kind of disturbances from the public, the statues have been removed during midnight.
However a few opine that as the general elections have been concluded already, removal of the statues may not effect the TDP circles now.
