CDC reports frozen foods too can transmit covid-19!

Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in a statement on Saturday that touching the frozen food packaging contaminated by living novel coronavirus could be a trigger factor for infection. Earlier in September, China halted frozen food imports service from 56 companies from 19 countries where staff members were infected with Covid-19.

Of late Chinese disease control authority detected and isolated living coronavirus from the outer packaging of frozen food. This was found when the Chinese CDC’s efforts to trace the virus in Qingdao city reported an outbreak of Covid-19 last week.

The authorities in Qingdao conducted tests on all of the 11 million population approximately. No new clusters of cases were reported after the tests.

The public authority for the first time concluded that living covid virus can be spread over long distances when accumulated on frozen food. The CDC had detected genetic traces of Covid-19 in some samples taken from frozen food packaging.

However, the specks of virus detected in these samples was relatively low and no living coronavirus was segregated at the time. Reportedly, the Chinese CDC notified that two dock workers in Qingdao were diagnosed with Covid-19 in September.

But they were asymptomatic and were not isolated. It passed onto at least 12 other people at a chest hospital in the city. These employees found to have handled frozen food packaging.
