A key development has taken place in the investigation of the ‘poachgate’ case — involving four MLAs of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi in Telangana. The High Court of the state today transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The court has issued orders to this effect. This is a big setback for Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his party BRS as the court denied their request to continue the probe with the state government appointed special investigation team (SIT).
On the other hand, the Advocate General told the court on behalf of the SIT that handing over the case to the CBI would not serve any purpose. However, the court did not consider his arguments and directed the SIT to hand over the details of the investigation conducted so far to the CBI.
