In a grim record, India has recorded over 4 lakh cases for the first time, establishing yet another record for the world’s largest single-day total. The unwanted record came after the country reported 3 lakh daily infection cases for nine straight days.
With 4,01,993 new Covid-19 cases, the country’s Covid-19 tally has risen to 19,164,969. India has also reported 3,523 deaths on Friday, including 870 in Maharashtra, 375 in Delhi, 332 in Uttar Pradesh, and 269 in Chhattisgarh. Now, the total number of deaths because of Covid in the country stands at 211,855. The south Asian country has 32,68,710 active cases.
On the positive side, 2,99,988 discharges were reported in the last 24 hours, as per the Union health ministry. On the other hand, India administered 15,49,89,635 Covid-19 vaccines so far.
Indian Council of Medical Research has revealed that 28,83,37,385 samples tested up to 30th April 2021 for the pandemic.
