Hyderabad: Bachupally police arrested four fraudsters who posed as IPS officers cheated a businessman of Rs 11 crore under the pretext of arranging a matrimonial alliance. Reportedly, four family members including a woman were involved.
The detained were identified as Smriti Sinha, Raghava Reddy, Ranadhir Reddy and Ramakrishna Reddy. The other accused went absconding.
The Bachupally police arrested the four accused subsequent to a complaint filed by P Veera Reddy, 36, a resident of Bachupally.
In his complaint, Veera Reddy stated that he got acquainted with Ankireddy Vijay Kumar Reddy, who impersonated as provisionally selected for IPS, and Smriti Simha, posing as the chairperson of the International Human Rights Commission for South India. The duo also introduced other members of their gang — Raghava an ASI of CISF who posed as Deputy Commissioner of CISF; and associates were Ranadheer Reddy and Ramakrishna to the victim to create an impression of having a good team.
Vijay Kumar Reddy who is a software installer and Smriti Sinha, a divorcee looking after a super maker moved into a gated community masquerading as a married couple. They tricked their neighbour Veera Reddy, a mining business man (resident of Bachupally) to believe that they owned 72 buses and 32 acres of land in Bachupally.
Assuming that the accused were wealthy and influential people, he handed a loan of 11 crore in 2017. Through which the accused bought a Villa worth of 2 crore, three Ford and Suv cars worth of 4 crores.
