Farmers who had given land to the Amaravati capital got relief in the Andhra Pradesh high court. The government has recently issued a GO that will seize the return gift plots given to the farmers.
The farmers challenged this GO in the high court. The HC, which heard the petition on Monday, issued interim orders suspending the GO given by the government. The court also directed Amaravati Metropolitan Region Development Authority (AMRDA) not to take further action against the GO.
The advocate for the petitioner argued in court that it was illegal to seize plots that were given as return gifts, as per the agreements made earlier.
The farmers were also given the facility to sell those plots for their needs. However, the YSRCP government has decided to withdraw them, and it issued GO 316 regarding the same.
