AP government speechless in Supreme Court

The Andhra Pradesh government has been relentless in its allegations on the previous TDP government and the supposed insider trading that took place at Amaravati during Chandrababu’s regime. A case was initially filed in the AP High Court, which dismissed the petition, post which the AP government directly approached the Supreme Court without a second thought.

A hearing on the case took place today, in the SC, where the SC bench questioned the lawyer representing the AP government, Dushyant Dave if there was anyone who was harmed in the process, to which Dave replied no. Dave argued that Chandrababu informed his close aides about the lands of Amaravati in prior, and also informed them that Amaravati was the capital of AP in advance, due to which they were able to buy those lands. The SC then said that the fact that Amaravati was going to be the capital of AP was an open secret, and there’s nothing here that can be termed as ‘insider trading’. Dave has no response to this and asked for the SC bench to give him some more time to come up with arguments for the case.

The SC asked Dave to submit his written arguments before the next hearing. Furthermore, Dave requested the SC to take into consideration the petition previously filed by SIT, which the SC denied.
