AP economy worsens as liquor sales drastically drop!

The economic condition of the state of Andhra Pradesh hasn’t been in the best shape for a long time now. Things got even worse with the Capital debate, as no one is showing interest in investing in the state anymore. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy came up with several schemes to help boost the economy, but all of them feel flat, yielding no results at all.

Of all the schemes that Jagan introduced, the excise scheme is by far the most disastrous one, as it has done more harm than good. As a result of this excise scheme, a sharp decline in the sales of liquor has been observed in AP. This is considered even while keeping in mind the current situation, and the period when liquor was not sold for several weeks.

Liquor sales were considerably good even when they were initially sold during the lockdown. However, subsequently, the sales have dropped due to several reasons including the supply of cheap brands of liquor, and mainly because of the excise schemes. A total of Rs. 10,282 Crore revenue was yielded from liquor sales last year, between April and September, while only Rs. 7,706 Crore revenue has been yielded this year, between the same April and September.

Officials have reported a 64% fall in liquor sales this year, considering that over 166 Lakh cases of liquor were sold between April and September last year, and only 65.62 Lakh cases of liquor have been sold between April and September this year. With this steep decline, the financial position of Andhra Pradesh is now adverse than before, and needs a miracle for it to get better.
