The Andhra Pradesh assembly sessions for this season are likely to begin at the end of February. According to sources, the Chief Minister of AP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is planning to have 25 working days allotted to the budget for the financial year os 2023-24. This means that the budget session would begin towards the end of February and go well into the mid-week of March.
A lot of major issues are expected to be discussed during this budget session, along with the passing of several appropriation bills. The CM is also reportedly planning to get 10 key bills to be passed by the house. One of these important bills includes the bill for the decentralization of the capital of Andhra Pradesh. This means that the CM could then easily shift his base to Visakhapatnam by announcing it as the executive capital of the state officially. As per reports, he intends to do this after Ugadi.
The elections for the 6 MLC seats from the Assembly quota and two seats from the local bodies’ quota will fall vacant on March 29th, and the elections for the same are expected to take place at this time itself. The dates for the budget session are yet to be announced officially, as the Governor would have to be notified first.
