The YSRCP ministers and members are hell bent on moving to Visakhapatnam at all costs, with several sources already revealing that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning to move to the port city after Ugadi. He announced Vizag as the executive capital of the state just a few months after he became the CM in 2019. Even though the High Court of Andhra Pradesh announced that Amaravati is to be the sole capital of AP, the YSRCP government decided to challenge the HC’s ruling by going to the Supreme Court. With the case pending in the SC currently, the CM seems to be feeling free to do whatever he wants.
Every now and then, one or the other member from the YSRCP is making comments about moving to Visakhapatnam. Recently, Andhra Pradesh minister for IT, Gudivada Amarnadh, said that Visakhapatnam would be made the executive capital of the state officially, in the next two months. The secretariat of AP is also expected to be shifted from Velagapudi to Vizag around this time. Amarnadh went on to suggest that everyone opposing the shifting of the executive capital in the Vizag region, from the TDP or other oppositions, should move from the Uttarandhra region.
Jagan’s camp office is expected to be shifted to Vizag in mid-March, followed by certain sections of the secretariat, after which one after the other will be shifted to the port city.
