We are aware that the nation is witnessing protests from defence job aspirants amid the implementation of the Agnipath scheme.
Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra on Monday said that his company will recruit trained and capable Agniveers after the four-year term under Agnipath.
As per the Union Defence Ministry’s military recruitment scheme, youths between the age of 17.5 and 21 years would be recruited in the Army, Navy and the Air Force for a 4-year tenure. After completing their term, 25% of the recruits will be retained for regular service.
Taking to Twitter, Anand Mahindra said, “Saddened by the violence around the #Agneepath program. When the scheme was mooted last year I stated-& I repeat-the discipline & skills Agniveers gain will make them eminently employable. The Mahindra Group welcomes the opportunity to recruit such trained, capable young people.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs also announced a 10% reservation for Agniveers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. A few state governments also declared that will induct ‘Agniveers’ into state police.
