Middle Class Melodies Review – Melody goes missing.!

Starring Vijay Deverakonda’s brother, Anand Deverakonda, and Varsha Bollamma in the lead roles, Middle Class Melodies skipped theatrical release and premiered on Amazon Prime Video today. Scroll on to see what we had to say about the film after watching it.

Story:

Raghava(Anand Deverakonda), the son of a small-time food vendor is known for making the best Bombay chutney in his village. He dreams of setting up a hotel in Guntur and after overcoming a few hurdles, he manages to do so. But he struggles to get his hotel business on track as it fails to attract desired number of customers. On the other hand, Raghava’s love life with Sandhya (Varsha Bollamma) is not in the best of phases either. How does Raghava tackle all these tough challenges? To know the answer, you should watch the film.

What about on-screen performances?

The male lead Anand Deverakonda fails to deliver a commendable performance in a seemingly well-written role. His acting in emotional sequences is substandard. He does show signs of slight improvement but still has a long way to go. Ramana who plays the make lead’s father is a good find. He looks really natural and leaves a mark with his impressive portrayal of a middle-class father. Varsha Bollamma is in her elements and she loons beautiful on the screen. The rest of the star cast perform to the best of their capabilities.

What about off-screen talents?

The writer of the film, Janardhan Panumarthi and the director Vinod Ananthoju present a story that is relatable to many middle-class individuals. The story and the set-up is laced with emotions. The film touches almost all the day-to-day activities and beliefs of middle-class families and that stands as the cornerstone. However, things turn a bit monotonous after a point and this is where the pace of the film drops. The screenplay seems repetitive at times. Despite having a decent enough emotional connect, the film fails to sustain the attention of the viewer for roughly 2 hours.

Songs scored by Sweekar Agasthi and RH Vikram go with the flow of the proceedings and there is nothing special about them. Cinematographer Sunny’s visuals are pretty decent.

Verdict:

Middle Class Melodies has an emotionally moving storyline, but Anand Deverakonda’s weak portrayal of male lead character acts against the cause. And also, the screenplay could have been better. That said, Janardhan and Vinod do a fairly decent job and they might come up with a better output if they find the right actor who can shoulder their story. But sadly for them, the Melody goes missing in Middle Class Melodies.

Watch or not?: Watch it if you have way too much time to spare.
