Amaravati Farmers: It’s better for us to join terrorists

The injustice that is being done to the farmers of Amaravati is nothing new to the whole world. They have been crying ever since Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the idea of 3 Capitals for Andhra Pradesh.

In a recent statement, the farmers of Amaravati have said that the government is completely neglecting them and is paying a deaf ear to all of their concerns. They also said that the way the government is behaving towards them is leaving them with no choice but to consider joining a terrorist group. The farmers of Amaravati are all set to write a letter to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, explaining their woes with respect to the change of capital.

The other day, when CM Jagan conducted his cabinet meeting, all the farmers surrounded his convoy in a peaceful manner, obstructing no one, but trying to make their voice heard. Irrespective of their peaceful protest, the Police had behaved in a very unruly fashion with them, and arrested a few of them as well.

Reacting to this, the farmers have questioned if they do not even have the right to speak their mind and try to convey their emotions to the leader of the state. Furthermore, the Police had arrested a few people before the cabinet meeting had even begun, and released them right after the meeting was over. The Police department is also being accused of arresting all those who are actively taking part in the protests, by booking them under various cases just for the sake of keeping them away.

It has been 246 days since the farmers of Amaravati have started their protests, and the government seems to be least bothered about what they have to say. The worst part is that the government is not even letting them peacefully protest in their own lands, and is arresting them, regardless.

On the other hand, Amaravati JAC Leaders have said that they completely trust the High Court and Supreme Court to deliver justice to the farmers of Amravati, by reinstating Amaravati as the sole capital of Andhra Pradesh.
