Ever since the Taliban insurgents swept to power on Sunday, thousands of people in Afghanistan are seeking to flee the country and crowds of people have been thronging to the airport hoping that they could board any plane that is leaving the country. Sadly, many are even trying to board moving planes.
In a tragic turn of events, an Afghan national team footballer named Zaki Anwari died in a fall from a US plane at Kabul airport on Monday. As per reports, Zaki Anwari fell from a USAF Boeing C-17.
The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports of Afghanistan confirmed the death of Anwari in the violence that happened at the airport in the capital.
“Anwari, like thousands of Afghan youths, wanted to leave the country but fell off a US plane and died,” the group said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Unfortunately, a few hanged on to the wheels of the flight or sat on the wings, but their attempts ended after they fell to their deaths from the sky.
