Sunrisers Hyderabad is not a team that can score or chase big totals. Even in a small stadium-like Sharjah, they failed to score a total of 209. Thus, they faced a defeat in the hands of Mumbai Indians by 34 runs. Except for David Warner (60), no one scored well for Sunrisers. Earlier, it was Quinton de Kock (67), Ishan Kishan (31), Hardik Pandya (28) and Krunal Pandya (20), who helped Mumbai to score a big total.

Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first. His side got an early blow as Rohit himself got out in the first over bowled by Sandeep Sharma. That didn’t stop Mumbai from scoring runs. Quinton de Kock and Surya Kumar Yadav scored many boundaries in the powerplay. Siddharth Kaul, who is playing his first match this season, removed Surya Kumar Yadav in the sixth over. Later, de Kock and Ishan Kishan kept the momentum going and haven’t given a chance for SRH to pick up a wicket. They made a 78-run partnership for the third wicket. SRH’s trump card Rashid Khan caught de Kock in his own bowling. Kishan was then dismissed by a blinder taken by Manish Pandey. Later, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard took the job of scoring runs. Jr. Pandya got out in the last over. Sr. Pandya then came in and scored 20 runs off his first four balls. On the whole, MI scored 21 runs in the last over and ended their innings at 208/5.

SRH tried to get a good start chasing this big total. But Trent Boult gave a breakthrough for Mumbai Indians by dismissing Jonny Bairstow in the fifth over. The wicket didn’t make the Sunrisers fumble as David Warner and Manish Pandey scored well during the power play. They made a partnership of 60 runs for the second wicket. Pattinson then dismissed Pandey. Soon, Kane Williamson also got out in the bowling of Boult. Priyam Garg, who played a match-winning knock in the last game, also got out soon. Ishan Kishan then took a stunner to dismiss David Warner. After that wicket, SRH’s defeat was inevitable. Even Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad failed to give their team a victory and after 20 overs, SRH settled with a score of 174/7.

Scorecard:

Mumbai Indians: 208/5 (Q de Kock 67, I Kishan 31, S Sharma 2/41)

Sunrisers Hyderabad: 174/7(D Warner 60, M Pandey 30, T Boult 2/28)
