Review & Rating: Vishal’s Action (Telugu) Movie

Story:

Subhash (Vishal) is a Colonel in the military and is also a son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. A Prime Minister candidate named Gupta gets killed in an event hosted by Subhash’s father. Even Meera (Aishwarya Lakshmi), who is Subhash’s girlfriend and brother Shravan (Ramki) gets killed in the same bomb blast. Rest of the story is how Subash cleared the mystery and killed the person behind the blast.

Performances:

Vishal as military officer is impressive. His hardwork for action episodes can be felt on  the screen. Tamanna is given a performance oriented role in the film, that involves action and other serious elements. She nailed it with a brilliant performance throughout. Even on glamor side, she offered a bikini treat to the mass audience in one of the songs.

Akanksha Puri in negative role is good. She performed risky stunts well and also offered glamour treat in a song. Comedian Sha Ra and Yogi Babu evoke decent laughs on the screen. Rest other roles are okay.

Technical Performances:

Living up to the title, Action movie is high on action. Every action episode in the film has been designed in a chasing format. Vishal-Tamanna introduction block in Turkey, interval block between Vishal- Aishwarya Lakshmi, chasing episodes in Algornia are shot well. The emotional part in the first half is dealt well. Coming to second half, a bank hacking block gives a good suspense feel. The first 30 minutes of this part is good with some interesting elements.

Many new locations can be witnessed in the film. Production values are rich. D.O.P Dudley takes all the credit for the stupendous work. His framing and shots are impressive. The background score of Hip Hop Thamizha has helped to elevate several scenes, especially the action episodes in the film. Even the action choreographers designed all the chasing sequences well. Director Sunder C has done a brilliant job with Action.

Coming to minus points, the last 30 minutes of the film is slow. An action thriller movie is supposed to bet high on climax. But shockingly, both climax and pre climax of Action, is a let down.

As the chasing episodes in the first half are impressive, audience expect the similar kind of high action episodes between the main villain and hero in the climax. But the director disappoints in that aspect, by ending the climax in a simple manner.

Tamanna’s character is a good attraction to the film, but her role has been designed in a such a way, that she obstructs flow of the film.

Nabbing a terrorist and the strategies played for it is what Action movie story is about. The story is quite predictable and unfortunately even the screenplay is weak. The director majorly focused on thrills and ignored twists.

Action movie could have been better, if the makers concentrated on action elements even in the second half, just like the first half. Editing is good, but lengthy action sequences could have been trimmed for the betterment. Dialogues are just okay.

Analysis:

Tagged as Action thriller, Action movie is not so great but just okay. They focused only on action scenes and ignored other aspects like twists, betterment in emotional scenes, etc. The visuals are grand and locations are scenic. But due to the lack of strength in script, all such efforts went vain. Action movie can appear better to the audiences, who expect nothing but some great visuals and action sequences.
