Story:
Villagers file a case against Copper Factory that is being planned to set up in a village. On the other side, Charan (Vijay Sethupathi) falls in love with Kamalini (Rashee Khanna).
The girl’s father calls up Charan and asks him to act as a savior in the Copper Factory issue, as he resemble his friend’s son Vijay Sethupathi. What are the consequences, he faced in this backdrop and how did he overcome all those? Watch the movie, to find answers to all the questions.
Performances:
Vijay Sethupathi is generally known for his outstanding performance. Even in “Vijay Sethupathi” movie, he nailed the role he was offered. But due to the rise in weight, his performance may not appear as attractive as his earlier films.
Rashee Khanna on the other side, did a brilliant job. She managed both glamour part and also expressions well. Nivetha Pethuraj’s role is quite routine. Ashuthosh Rana is unimpressive. Nazar has nothing much to offer.
Technical performances:
A few scenes and songs between Vijay Sethupathi and Rashee Khanna are good. Scenes in the combination of comedian Suri and hero are just okay. R Velraj’s cinematography is good. Especially, the way he shot “Kallathone O Seethakoka pilichenu” song is fantastic.
The visuals are good and so are the production values. It is known that the makers revealed that they had written the script for Pawan Kalyan. But the mega hero will not fit in Vijay’s role in the film in any manner.
It seems, the makers tried to bet on Vijay Sethupathi’s stardom in Kollywood. But they could have at least added a few elevations like KGF, that would entertain the C Centre audiences. But no such attempt has been made in the film.
Director Vijay Chander attempted to make a commercial film. But he failed in every aspect. Editing is weak, Vivek-Merwin composed two songs well and rest other songs are unbearable. It is better not to discuss about the background score. Malluri Venkat’s dialogues are outdated. All the major technical aspects fail to make any impact.
Analysis:
“Vijay Sethupathi” script has been written in a typical commercial template like a song, fight, comedy scene etc. Telugu dubbing producers might have picked hero’s name as title only for mileage, anticipating that there is no story in the film anyway. An old story and adding to it, mixing it up with unnecessary commercial and predictable elements makes “Vijay Sethupathi” a mega disappointment.
Finally: Vijay Sethupathi out of Vijayam (victory).
