A manifesto released by an independent candidate, Tulam Saravanan became the talk of the town. If he wins the election, he has promised to give a helicopter and deposit crores of rupees a year for every family.
He promised a three-storied building, along with gold jewelry for the wedding, along with a trip to the moon. He is one of 13 candidates contesting from the same constituency. He recently released this manifesto.
Saravan is a journalist-turned-politician. His parents were also poor. He brought in Rs 20,000 for interest to contest the elections.
