Actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth’s Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has quit the AIADMK-BJP alliance months ahead of the TamilNadu assembly election.
As per reports, Vijayakanth has announced his withdrawal from the AIADMK alliance following the failure of talks on adjustment of seats in the party.
Vijayakanth seems to have insisted on a Rajya Sabha seat along with 23 Assembly seats. He expressed his displeasure at being told that only 13 assembly seats would be given and clarified that he was leaving the alliance.
For now, the Vijayakanth’s party has either AMMK or MNM as only their options to form an alliance for the elections. But Kamal Haasan’s MNM has settled the seat-sharing deal with its allies. Assembly polls will be held in a single phase on April 6, and results will be out on May 2.
