All landline users across the country will have to press ‘0’ before calling any mobile number from their landline from today, January 15 onwards.
The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) said last November that landline users should dial zero before calling any mobile number.
This policy will be in force from today. Telecom operators have made all arrangements to communicate this information to their customers.
Airtel has informed that from January 15, 2021, it is mandatory to press zero before making a phone call to any mobile from any landline.
Similarly, Jio also sent a message to its fixed landline users. This policy only applies to landlines. There is no need to follow this procedure when calling from mobile to landline.
