While the GHMC results gave a reality check to the ruling TRS, the BJP was very confident about their future in the Telugu speaking state. But the opposition Indian National Congress has suffered irreparable damage. They were limited to single digit in terms of winning seats and most of their leaders lost deposits in various corporations.
The entire Congress vote bank fell into the BJP’s lap. TPC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy, who decided that it was not his capacity to raise this party to the next level, made a sensational decision. The Congress party was badly damaged in the GHMC elections. Congress leaders, who had hoped to win at least ten seats, were frustrated. Congress was limited to just two seats. Once again the existence of Congress is questionable.
Under these circumstances, Uttam Kumar Reddy, the TPCC chief, has resigned in the wake of the Greater Election results. After facing a series of defeats to the Congress for some time, many key leaders left Congress and most of them joined BJP. Now Uttam Kumar seems to have followed them. It seems that his resignation letter was sent to the high command.
However, it remains to be seen whether the High Command will approve his resignation and if they approve, who will be the next TPCC Chief? Many people think that they have their noses ahead for this post but who will dare and take responsibility to take lead for the party which has been close to abyss?
