What do assembly sessions mean for..? Whatever the sensible explanation one could give, clearly the opposite has been happening in Andhra Pradesh. Because once assembly meetings were held so that the people’s representatives can discuss public issues and suggest solutions. But the perception began to change that assembly was just a platform for a show of domination by the parties.
Since the partition of state it has been clear that the assembly sessions are meant for insulting the opposition by the ruling party leaders in a way that no one could imagine. Every YCP supporter is probably amazed at the way the latest five-day winter meetings are going. Discussing problems and finding solutions is nowhere to be seen but swearing at each other even the word is contagious is the current trend in the assembly sessions.
TDP members provoked YCP members and YCP members cracked down on TDP members. Those days were gone where the speaker will interfere when the leaders are crossing boundaries. Now the speaker has become a part of this disgraceful show. No opposition party leader has been polite with the speaker and vice versa.
It started when the TDP came to power in 2014. It is unfortunate that the rulers did not come up with the idea of running a new assembly in a divided state, leaving out what had happened in the united AP. When the TDP was in power they didn’t care the YSRCP MLAs. The then ministers personally spoke very damaging words about Jagan Mohan Reddy, the main opposition leader. Neither Chandrababu Naidu nor Kodela Sivaprasadarao who is the speaker didn’t bother too control their leaders.
Former ministers like Atchennaidu, Devineni and Ravela were all targeting Jagan personally and there were many occasions when Chandrababu laughed out loud. The present situation in AP assembly is the reaction and revenge to the past. Now, Anil Kumar along with CM Jagan and others have made it a mission to insult Chandra Babu at every chance they get. Let alone the discussion on the people’s problems and new amendments to make everything thing that is up for the debate ends up with walk out or controversies.
No common man in AP believes there will be an end to this tradition in the near future. Do they?
