It is known that a 17-year-old girl in Hyderabad was gang-raped in a car by five boys she met at a pub on Saturday night. The non-alcoholic party was attended by nearly 150 friends of the victim.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s father on May 31, the police booked a case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on a woman to outrage her modesty), 376D (gang rape) and Sections 9 and 10 of the POCSO Act.
The latest development is that at least three of the five accused identified in the gangrape were minors. Revealing the details about the case, the police said on Friday said one of them was arrested.
West Zone DCP Joel Davis said the victim could reveal nothing about the culprits, barring one name. “Based on those details, special teams were set up to investigate. CCTV footage was collected, CDR analysis was done and five suspects were identified by comparing the CCTV footage with the details given by the girl,” Davis said.
“Among the five culprits who were identified, three are minors. One accused Saduddin Malik has been arrested. The allegation that the home minister’s son-in-law is involved is baseless,” the senior police officer added.
“For one juvenile in conflict with law, we could get a specific lead. Because of nighttime, we could not apprehend him. I hope that we will apprehend him tomorrow. He is the son of a VIP,” the DCP further added.
