Even after the ruling parties of both the Telugu states, along with the opposition party TDP, stayed away from voting for the Triple Talaq bill, they are still receiving criticisms from the social media.
Most of the netizens opined that those leaders, who expressed their distress towards the Triple Talaq bill, could have instead voted against the bill as the approval of it may not be so easy then. But the leaders, by staying away from it, had given an indirect hint that they are in favor of the Centre.
Earlier, in TDP’s regime, Chandrababu Naidu severely went against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, just before the elections. In fact, it is also one of the reasons for him to step down from the Chief Minister’s chair.
So, it seems, unwilling to face the similar risk from Modi, neither Andhra Pradesh government, nor Telangana government, voted against the bill and stayed away from the voting, only to get it an easy clearance.

Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Triple Talaq had been banned in many Islamic countries, India had not done so despite being a secular nation. The Lok Sabha already passed the bill in the past.
