YS Jagan to track back on council abolishment next

The other day, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that they are taking back the 3 capitals bill. He vowed to reintroduce the bill later after making necessary changes to make it more comprehensive.

Now, it is heard that Jagan is tracking back on the abolishment of the Andhra Pradesh legislative council, a bill that was passed in 2020.

It is being said that Jagan wants to reinstate the 58-member Andhra Pradesh legislative council. A fresh resolution to this effect is likely to be presented in the assembly by the finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy in a day or two.

Following the municipal corporation elections, the ruling party of Andhra Pradesh YSRC will have the opportunity to expand its strength in the council to 32, making it the majority party. TDP will have minimal representation if that happens.

With an improved strength in the council, YSRC will be the decisive party and hence Jagan’s decision to restore the council. The modified 3 capitals bill might be presented in the assembly soon after.
