There is no vaccine to come rescue for the COVID-19 patients yet and the scientists are exploring various possibilities to come in aid for the infected. The prevention measures haven’t been able to control the spread of this deadly Novel Corona Virus.
Now, the latest ‘plasma therapy’ which came into limelight after producing some encouraging results is the new hope for the health care professionals in the country. Recently, the Telangana government also took the permission of the central government and ICMR to adopt plasma therapy for the patients whose condition is worsened by the COVID-19.
Coming to the reliability of this plasma therapy, these are only a few plasma samples available for thousands of patients in the country, and out of them only half of the recovered patients are willing to offer their samples for others. The government has decided to treatment with the collected plasma in Mumbai as an experiment but it is being halted with the lack of required samples.
Even if there is enough plasma that is derived from the blood of recovered patients available to treat the patients, the sample should contain enough antibodies in it to fight with the virus and not all patients’ plasma have that capacity to produce a desirable result. So, there is so much time left to come to a conclusion on the reliability of ‘plasma therapy’.
