Last Sunday’s mammoth meeting of the BJP’s star campaigner and prime minister Narendra Modi might have sent shivers down the line of its political opponents, but not the party’s rank and file.
Amazing, but true! The party cadre and senior leadership are yet to recover from the shocking defeats in the December polls. To be more precise, none of them are yet to reconcile from the humiliating defeats handed over to the party by the ruing TRS.
In that backdrop, the party leadership to take the response to the PM’s public meeting at the Lal Bahadur stadium, which was jam packed to its full capacity, where spontaneous slogans like ….Modi….Modi….rent the air.
This has happened soon after the TRS founder and chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has to cancel his scheduled meeting at the same venue as several blocks were found empty, in spite of best efforts by the party local leadership to mobilize crowds to fill the stadium. Though, some lame excuses were given to traffic snarls and other reasons, the CM had to cancel the meeting, which had to be managed by the local leaders, with some disappointment glaringly evident from their faces.
In that contrast, the overwhelming response to the PM’s meeting is being viewed by many political analysts that the people seems drawing clear lines over their choice when it come to the Lok Sabha elections to the assembly.
Modi, who had been holding public meetings in several parts of the Telangana, is drawing considerable crowds. Whether to consider that they have faith in leadership of Modi as far as national politics as well national security matters are concerned, one may have to wait and see. One can easily co-related the tumultuous response to the Modi meetings to the recent Indian army’s success or his ‘decisiveness’ in dealing with terror as well Pakistan with surgical strikes first and later Balakot airstrikes to destroy the training centre of banned JeM group,
The BJP, which has won lone Secunderabad LS seat in 2014 general elections, is trying hard to retain this time around, besides fighting close battles in other couple of constituencies like the Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar and Malkajgiri. The party state leadership is optimistic of winning more than one this time around.
