King Nagarjuna’s latest offering Manmadhudu 2, which was directed by Rahul Ravindran, became a disaster at the box office. We have exclusively learnt that the film’s loss will be 50 percent of the spent budget.
A source close to Akkineni compound revealed to us that distributors have been shocked by the magnitude of failure.
They invested Rs 20 Cr and bagged theatrical rights of the film. But, in a nightmarish scenario, Manmadhudu 2 collected just below Rs 10 Cr, becoming a big dud in the US as well.
If the latest reports are to be believed, the distributors have started approaching Akkineni Nagarjuna to pay back some money to lessen their loss.
Nagarjuna, who was co-produced the movie, is yet to take a call on the demand. We heard that the discussions are going on with co-producers to bear all the losses in equal parts they are not agreeing to it.
We hope it would be great if producers return some of the bucks to distributors that Manmadhudu-2 has entailed. The film features Rakul Preet Singh as the female lead and Keerthy Suresh made a guest appearance in the film.
The film was co-produced by Gemini Kiran, Geetha (who bought the remake rights of the French Movie) and Viacom.
