The first COVID vaccine with a high rate of efficacy as well as proved to be safe, Pfizer is yet to make its way into India. According to DCGI sources, the company has applied for the use of the corona vaccine, a joint venture between US-based Pfizer and German biotech companies. It is noteworthy that this is the first company in our country to apply to DCGI for corona vaccine use.
This American Pfizer vaccine has a 95 percent success rate. The US government has also entered into an agreement with the company. However, it should be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius. That is the only thing that concerns India. Hence, the Government of India has not entered into an agreement with this Pfizer vaccine yet. The United States and Germany have not yet approved the vaccine.
According to the regulations, the permission for the usage of the vaccine must be given within 90 days of request. If the Pfizer vaccine works well in the UK and Bahrain, the DCGI is likely to approve it. The Pfizer vaccine has already been approved in the UK and Bahrain. They have already started their sales.
If the DGCI of India approves the vaccine, it will be available to all people in the country. However, it seems that the Indian government is planning to distribute the domestically made vaccine to the people and it would be their first priority.
