The World Health Organization on Saturday hinted that the covid-19 pandemic is possibly going to be “lengthy” and said the world should evaluate the pandemic as early as possible.
The WHO emergency committee emphasised the “anticipated lengthy duration of this COVID-19 pandemic” when it met on Friday, warning of “the risk of response fatigue in the context of socio-economic pressures”.
After a high level review of the pandemic situation, the Committee members unanimously agreed that a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC) is highly required and advised the same to WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
To which the the director general accepted and alarmed about the lengthy outbreak of COVID-19 that continues to be detrimental and soon declared a PHEIC.
