India‘s Covid-19 looks intimidating as the severity hasn’t dampened yet. With many states facing the adverse situations in battling viral infection, hospitalisations, oxygen availability and deaths, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday, warned that the pandemic’s second year will be “far more deadly” than the first as we witness across the world.
Ghebreyesus further asserted that the WHO took cognizance of the Covid-19 spurt in India and has exported thousands of oxygen concentrators, tents for mobile field hospitals, masks and other medical needs.
“India remains hugely concerning, with several states continuing to see a worrying number of cases, hospitalisations and deaths. WHO will provide constant support until the situation comes under control”, he added. WHO chief thanked all the stake holders for coming in support in the tough times.
He iterated that vaccine supply remains a big challenge and that saving lives and livelihoods with a combination of public health measures and vaccination is the only path out of the pandemic.
Although the death rate reduced markedly, India is witnessing a dreadful coronavirus pandemic, with 3,43,144 people testing positive for the virus on Friday, taking the country’s cases to 2,40,46,809.
