Another Indian American has earned rare respect in the US. A woman of Indian descent will take a key position in US President Joe Biden‘s team.
Indian-American policy expert Neera Tanden has been appointed as a senior adviser to United States (US) President Joe Biden. Biden has previously nominated Tandon as Director of Management and Budget Office. It is learned, however, that she withdrew her nomination in the face of strong opposition due to biased tweets made against several leaders in the past.
Meanwhile, Tandon has previously served as an adviser to former US President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
In a statement, John Podesta, the founder of the Center for American Progress (CAP) said: “Neera’s intellect, tenacity, and political savvy will be an asset to the Biden administration as she assumes a new role as senior adviser to the president. While we will be sorry to lose her considerable policy expertise and leadership at the Center for American Progress–an organization which we founded together in 2003–I am exceptionally thrilled to see her step into a new position serving this White House and the American people.”
The Indian-American policy expert serves as president and CEO of CAP and has worked as the CEO of the Center for American Progress Action Fund.
