We crumbled due to pressure from England: Virat Kohli

England defeated India in the Leeds Test by 76 runs and the hosts levelled the five-match series 1-1. Post-match, India skipper Virat Kohli said that the huge runs on the scoreboard put pressure on the visitors.

“We crumbled in the face of relentless pressure created by the England bowlers,” Virat said. He added that on the morning of the fourth day, the England bowlers bowled brilliantly and put pressure on him with solid bowling.

However, the Indian captain said it was normal for someone to collapse while batting in England. He clarified that the pitch was conducive to batting, and said they had made mistakes with England bowlers’ right line and length of the balls.

Kohli said the top-order batsman should score well, which would make the lower order task easier. He explained that the tail-enders could not score every time. He said that the inclusion of a second spinner in the final squad would depend on the pitch and would be considered later.
