What a Sunday it has been. The entire country remained indoors and supported the clarion call given by our Prime Minister to observe a 14 hour bandh. Though there were random vehicles buzzing by here and there, it has been a huge success.
There is no evidence to suggest that that the virus will not survive after the stipulated 14 hours and the chain of infection will be broken, but it has helped people to a large extent. There has been no noise, pollution and to top it all, people had showed solidarity and a demonstration that in a moment of crisis such as this, the nation stands united.
We need more bandhs like this atleast once a week to disinfect the country from human, traffic pollution and the deadly virus notwithstanding. The domestic lot are very happy that they got to rest without the worry of not being paid. While people stayed indoors and rested in various ways, come Monday, the fact is we have on the back of our minds who next? Prayers, meditation, exercises, cooking, playing with children can ease the stress and panic but the fact remains that we are a bit too late in addressing the problem.
