US President Joe Biden is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 24. The White House has announced that a bilateral meeting between Joe Biden and Narendra Modi will take place on Friday to take the relationship between the two countries from strength to strength while helping in reinforcing and giving momentum to the Quad grouping.
This is Modi’s first visit to the United States since Joe Biden was sworn in as US president in January this year. They have previously participated in the virtual Quad Summit (March), Climate Change Summit (April), G-7 (June). Prime Minister Modi last visited the United States in 2019. He accompanied the then President Donald Trump to the United States at an event called ‘Howdy Modi’ held in Houston.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be accompanied by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Japanese President Yoshihide Suga and US President Joseph R. Biden at the Quadrilateral Framework event on September 24 in Washington.
After the meeting, Modi will address the annual high-level UN General Assembly session in New York on September 25.
“The leaders will be focused on strengthening the deep ties between their people and shared democratic values that have underpinned the special bond between the United States and India for over seven decades,” a White House official said.
